9. Detoxing is a Necessity
This is another diet fad that is completely and absolutely unnecessary for weight-loss and overall health. Unfortunately, it’s also an easy sell because, to someone who isn’t well-versed on the inner workings of the human body, it actually seems logical to flush out all the toxins and bad things in the body to kick start a diet. The problem here is that the body doesn’t need help to detoxify. It’s perfectly capable of getting rid of everyday toxins all on its own. As a matter of fact, the body is actually made to detoxify itself. The only time real detoxification is necessary is in the case of a drug or alcohol overdose, or poisoning of some kind, all of which are legitimate medical emergencies.
