Exercise on an Empty Stomach

Although there is still much controversy on this subject, research has shown that it is better to eat a high protein meal approximately 30 minutes before working out. High protein meals appear to increase the thermic effect of a workout, which means the body is using more energy to digest, store, and utilize the food eaten. In addition, a small, protein-rich meal before a workout provides energy for the workout. This means that the workout is likely to be more intense and therefore burn more calories which leads to a higher weight loss.
